Amazon tops free apps program with one-day 31 apps giveaway

Amazon has dropped the price tag of 31 premium apps in its Android Appstore for two days only, June 27-28, granting Android users the opportunity to snatch up approximately $100 in apps for free.

The weekend promotion is a part of Amazon's Free App of the Day program, in which the online retailer usually offers a premium app for free each day.

The 31-app giveaway is running concurrently with the traditional format in which Amazon offered a free app each day, meaning Android fans can pick up 33 free apps over the course of the two-day promotion. On June 27, "MacGyver Deadly Descent" was the free app of the day and it wasn't included in the 31 apps Amazon compiled into its weekend promotion.

There 31 free apps included in the June 27-28 promotion include the following:

For individuals who haven't installed Amazon's Appstore, the process requires a change in security settings on the mobile device where the store will be installed. After navigating to the "Application" or "Security" section of the mobile device's "Settings" menu, individuals wishing to install the Amazon Appstore must ensure that the "Unknown Sources" option has been checked.

With the mobile device set to receive content from third-party publishers, the Amazon Appstore can be installed by navigating the smartphone or tablet to the store's download page on Amazon's website.
